iQual Tech is proud to announce the award of its contract with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), under the Technical Cooperation Project ROM9041, for the delivery, installation, and commissioning of an advanced Automatic Modular Meteorological Station (AMMS).
The system will be provided as a donation from the IAEA to the Romanian Nuclear Agency and Radioactive Waste (ANDR) to strengthen Romania’s capacity for the safe monitoring and long-term management of waste repositories. It will also support Romania’s compliance with international safety standards overseen by CNCAN – National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control and will enhance its national infrastructure for the management of spent fuel and radioactive waste.
The new system, fully compliant with World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standards, is designed to monitor a wide range of meteorological and soil parameters, including air temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind speed and direction, solar radiation, and soil moisture at multiple depths. By integrating advanced sensors and data logging capabilities, the station provides real-time and long-term measurements critical for ensuring the environmental safety and operational security of the LILW-SL radioactive waste final repository site (DFDSMA).
The contract scope includes delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of the meteorological station, alongside operator training to ensure sustainable use and maintenance of the system. IQT will also provide complete documentation, technical drawings, and support services as part of the project delivery based on the reliable support of its partner, Campbell Scientific and its field-proven range of scientific instrumentation and solutions.
By receiving this award, IQT is honored to contribute to strengthening nuclear safety in Romania. This project is the result of our continuous efforts to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions for the protection of critical infrastructure, made possible through our collaboration with prestigious global organizations such as the IAEA.
This milestone underlines IQT’s commitment to providing quality through innovative technologies, building trust with end-users, and contributing to national and international efforts aimed at enhancing the safety of critical sites. The delivered system will play a crucial role in early warning, long-term monitoring, and scientific evaluation required for the safe storage of radioactive materials.
